Tech Tackle was started in mid-2005 by  Bob Lomonaco, and Al Gilly.  Bob and Al have been friends since high school and they both spent most of their adult lives working in the toy industry.  Over the years, they worked for or represented numerous toy companies.  Al was in sales management with Hasbro, Lakeside Toys & Cox Hobbies and for the last 24 years was a manufacturer's rep.  Bob headed marketing and/or sales for Parker Brothers Games, Matchbox Toys, and McFarlane Toys & Collectibles.  Over the years they were involved with a number of toy companies specializing in collectibles. 

 About 2 years ago, they looked at the fishing industry and saw an opportunity to introduce a line of collectibles for fishermen.  The idea was hatched between Al, Bob, and Bob's son, Ed. The Idea…… licensed, miniature replicas of popular fishing gear.  They designed 1/6th scale, die cast metal, working reels and rods with realistic flex, working reel seats and wound-on guides.  One of the most important features built into every Tech Tackle product is “THE WOW FACTOR”…… When you look at any of our products,  your first thought must be “WOW!”. 

 The first licensed products are from Zebco (Quantum, Martin), and Pure Fishing (Abu Garcia, Mitchell, Berkeley).  Additional licensed brands are in the works, including: Penn, Fin-Nor, Van Staal, Shakespeare, Ugly Stik, Pfleuger, Accurate Reels, Striker Rods, Aftco Guides and Murray fighting chairs & rocket launchers (made with real TEAK…..WOW!)

 Tech Tackle started shipping 6 styles in January 2006.  Quantum Energy E30 spinning reel, and rod, Quantum Energy E860PT-XM baitcaster and rod, Quantum Cabo CNW30PTS rod and reel, Martin Mowhawk River MR 78 fly reel and rod, Mitchell 300X Gold spinning reel and rod, and Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Morrum M6600CL reel and rod.  New brands will start appearing in stores in early 2007.
